Nehemiah 11:1-12:26
INTRO
- Populating the city with people
- The importance of people and the difference they can make.
- Walls, gates, and temple or up… now for the people.
- Then and now… PEOPLE MATTER
It takes a variety of people
- Priests, Governors, Servants
- Religious, Civil, Military
The church today is a body of gifted believers
- 1 Corinthians 12:1-31
- Ephesians 4:1-16
- Living as the Church/Body of Jesus Christ
- The New Covenant people of God
It takes a variety of people who understand their mission and purpose
Glorify/Honor Him
- Acknowledge who He is. – Devotion, Love, Obedience
Live for Him
- Make Disciples
- Evangelism and Discipleship
- Serve others
- Do for others in the His name and for His Glory
Matthew 5:13-16 – Be salt and light
It takes a variety of people who understand their mission and purpose and are willing to act upon their convictions
- What we do is for the Lord
- Servant leaders
- Willing to do
- ALL IN mentality
- Jerusalem being the City of God
- The Church being the Church of God
1 Timothy 3:15 – if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. (ESV)
- Then… city in order. People and their calling
- Now… church in order. People and their calling
