Isaiah 40:12-26
INTRO
- Behold your God vv. 9-11. Here is your Shepherd-King vv. 12-26.
- God’s comfort to His people. (Israel then. The redeemed now)
- God is forgiving and restoring.
- We have hope this Christmas season because of the glory and majesty of God.
- His Attributes. The more we understand and embrace God… the CLEARER our life becomes
- AS WE LIVE OUR LIFE… WHO COMPARES TO HIM?
- This is why we are people of HOPE
God is our Creator – v. 12
- Measured, Marked, Weighted
- God’s perfect creation. No other explanation
The Wisdom of God – vv. 13-14
- Measured the Spirit of the Lord
- Psalm 139:1-4
- 1 John 3:20
The Power of God – vv. 15-17
- Drop from a bucket
- Dust on the scales
- Lebanon
- The insignificance of other nations
- None compare to the majesty and greatness of God
- He is ALL…Everything
- Psalm 147:5
The Sovereign Rule of God – vv. 18-24
- To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with Him
- The folly of idolatry
- False gods have nothing on God
- Do you not know? Do you not hear?
- Sits above the circle of the earth.
- Princes to nothing
- Rulers of the earth as emptiness
- Proverbs 21:1, Genesis 50:19-20
- God is working behind the scenes
- He is working to accomplish His purpose…GOD HAS A PLAN
- HE IS ON HIS THRONE… THE SOVEREIGN GOD OF THE UNIVERSE
To whom then compares to Him – vv. 25-26
- Their gods. The idols of their hearts.
- He is the Holy One
1 Chronicles 29:10-12
- Greatness, power, glory, victory, & majesty are His.
- All that is in the heavens and the earth are His.
- He is exalted overall.
- Riches and honor come from Him.
- He rules overall.
- In His hand is power and might
- In His hand it is to make great and give strength
