Luke 9:1-9
INTRO
- Jesus has demonstrated his authority
- Nature, Spiritual, Physical
- HE IS LORD OF ALL
- Now He is sending out the disciples
- HE HAS ALSO SENT US. TO GO YOU THEREFORE
Sent Empowered – v. 1
Gave them power.
- Then power. Now power.
- Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16; Ephesians 3:16
Gave them authority
- 2 Corinthians 5:20
Sent with a Mandate – v. 2
To Proclaim
- Kingdom of God
- Rule and Reign of His kingdom
To Minister/Serve
- Heal them physically
- Today HEAL TOTALLY
Sent with Clear Instructions – vv. 3-5
TRUST ME.
- You have all you need. I will take care of you
- 2 Corinthians 9:8; Philippians 4:19
Take nothing
- Trust/Faith/Dependence
Stay
- Contentment/Purpose
Dust off your feet
- Discernment/Boldness
Sent to Cause Wonder – vv. 6-9
Herod was perplexed
- Paused to think
- To confound. Cause to wonder
The unregenerate cannot perceive the working of God
- No regard to the supernatural.
It was not them, but God through them
- 2 Chronicles 20:15
- The Gospel, The Spirit
- We are His Ambassadors
Therefore, we should live in such a way that is:
- Different
- Set apart
- Unique
Causing people to PAUSE AND THINK
