Luke 21:5-38
INTRO
- Olivet Discourse Matthew 24-25; Mark 13.
- Jesus predicts the temples destruction.
- A message of warning and encouragement
- A message to the disciples then and for His disciples now
- Remember, we are passing through… this is not our home
- Focusing on what we can know rather than the unknown
- The fascination with prophecy and end times.
- Debates…disagreements. BY FAITHFUL BELIEVERS
The time is at hand, do not be deceived – vv. 5-11
- Others have come throughout out Jewish history claiming to be the Messiah
- In our time we have seen false teachers come proclaiming they are sent by God
- 2 Peter 3:17-18
Persecution is part of the plan, but trust in God – vv. 12-19
- It will come 2 Timothy 3:12
- It is a time to bear witness Acts 4-5; 1 Peter 3:13-17
- Bold yet peaceable 1 Timothy 2:2
Jerusalem must fall – vv. 20-24
- AD 70 (after 4 years of Jewish revolt)
- 167 BC Seleucid king Antiochus Epiphanes.

His return will be obvious – vv. 25-33
- Signs will accompany His return
- The nations will be judged… beyond just Jerusalem.
Be watchful and devoted to prayer – vv. 34-38
- watch yourselves/your heart
- Stay awake at all times
- Pray without ceasing
- Remember your mission.
- Devotion to Him
- Obedience to His Plan
- We will not and cannot be deceived… if we are truly His.
